If you want the important part, skip to the end. It's underlined and bold.Â
Art is a reflection of Geist, or Spirit (note the capital S). In fact, Hegel said art is a manifestation of Geist. We reached out to our writer Lucas, who has a degree in philosophy, for that. We didn't double check.
We are living in strange times, not as strange as 5 or 6 years ago, but still strange. Our work here only reflects our times, we are holding a mirror up to Spirit and telling it "you are so beautiful, you don't need make up."
With that being said, we are doing real, hard hitting, and in some cases gonzo, journalism. But much like every relationship you've been in, sometimes we have to polish the truth or flat out lie in order to keep the boat floating.
There are some disturbing images, nothing fucked up like things your cousin would show you on rotten.com in 2005, but nevertheless uncomfortable. But our times are uncomfortable, our spirits are very sick. We are sick, sick people and we need to be punished. But that's not our job, we don't want to punish, we just want to inform.
As the Spirit beams into our soul and out of our fingertips, we can see a reflection of our collective world view (our, being the writing staff filtered through the editor), and you can take a peak into the world as we know it, and have a little taste of our very own Spirit.
With all that being said, the writings you encounter in this publication walk the line between fact and fiction. You can decide which parts are real, and which aren't. Or you can just call our offices and ask whoever answers, they'll probably know what you're talking about.
No one was in danger, no one was held hostage, all firearms were probably not loaded, and any research chemicals taken were taken voluntarily.
Also, we have a lot of costumes. We also have cars, we can go a lot of places, but there's a limit to how far $25 in gas can take you (about to Nashville), so we had to use a mix of stock photos, GIMP and AI to create some of the images.
Does that make you feel empty? Does it produce some weird feeling of loneliness? Good, you're starting to confront Spirit. Whenever you're mindlessly scrolling your phone, you're consuming AI content. Way more than you can possibly imagine, in fact. It's gotten to the point where we are 90% sure the Adobe stock photos we steal are AI. They're just way too good to be true.
And it's really funny. Like, really really funny. It's so uncanny it makes you feel sad, like something bad happened. And it did. Our culture is sick, our people are sick, and now they're making you look at an AI photo of a baby sitting next to a PlayStation 2. We want a piece of the action.
But really, there was no way for us to afford all that Kratom and a police officer uniform or a guy who looks exactly like fat Rob Thomas on our budget. We had to make cuts somewhere.
With all that being said, what you are looking at may or may not be fake, but if something you read upsets or bothers you, you can call our offices to make sure we are all okay. May your heart stay strong and your aim be true, and may Spirit guide you towards Truth.
With Love,
The ODDJOB Crew
